Sandringham House

Engaged at the very start of covid, this project challenged the way we worked as a team remotely to breathe new life into this charming Californian Bungalow.

The owners brief for the home in general was to add character and warmth to the home. The house was to feel cosy and intimate, layered and definitely not stark. The owners are creatives themselves and already had many beautiful pieces of art and accoutrements.

I understood quickly that they were open to rich, textural and organic materials, were not afraid of colour and taking some risks.

Together with my clients and an excellent building team, we completely transformed the feel of the home through painting the exterior and interior, designing a new kitchen, laundry, butlers pantry, Alfresco area, powder room and one of the family bedrooms.

My clients are very specific and passionate about lighting, so we spent a lot of time and consideration on natural sources of light and also the use of soft pendant, wall light and table lamp lighting. We deleted as many downlights as possible.

Owners - ‘We needed help to pull all the elements together, create cohesion and oversee the project as it went along. What evolved was the most wonderful, collaborative adventure! We would sift through paint charts, fabric swatches and stone samples looking for that magical combination that just works.’
