Alpine Chalet

This project atop Mt Hotham is a passion project for my clients who love to ski and enjoy the alpine panorama of Victoria’s High Country.

Engaged during covid, this project challenged the way we worked as a team due to a number of constraints associated with building within an alpine resort.

Proximity to Melbourne, immovable construction deadlines and extreme weather conditions (soaring summer heat and freezing winter!) were all considerations which required close collaboration between client, Katie Sargent Design, our architect and builder.

Together with my clients and an excellent building team, we took the chalet back to its bones and recreated the exterior look and interior feel, taking it from a 90’s box to a cosy, warm and charming chalet.

My clients are very specific and passionate about lighting, so we spent a lot of time and consideration on natural sources of light and also the use of soft pendant, wall light and table lamp lighting.

Possibly one of the most challenging, yet rewarding projects all round, my clients are thrilled with the space that we have created and love sharing it with family and friends.
